A Review of Our December 2017 Tagaytay Wedding Suppliers!

Note: Post copied from my personal blog. :)

So here it is! 2 months after our wedding and I am finally making this review for all ya brides to be!
In an alphabetical order, here it goes:
*I'll update with pictures once I've done sorting them. Teehee!*

Cake: Tagaytay Tourist Cakes, Php 4,900
09228021642 / 046-4834614
https://www.facebook.com/pg/Tourist-Cakeshop-215776391880219/about/?ref=page_internal
4.7/5
I gave them this rating cause they were very easy to talk to! I just chatted with them on FB messenger, asked for a quote, and sent them a copy of the payment slip. The price is reasonable for my 2-tiered naked wedding cake. They also delivered it to my venue for free as it is within the vicinity of Tagaytay where they are based. I couldn't give them a 5 because I don't remember how the cake tasted. My fault actually. Hehe.

Caterer: Queensland, Php 119,045 (for 190 guests)
09565214655
https://www.facebook.com/pg/queenslandcatering/about/?ref=page_internal
4.5/5
The price could be lower but we wanted to avail of the unlimited iced tea and the angus roasted beef station so per guest the total was around Php 627.00 (inclusive of their charges). The basic service can be as low as Php 400.00 per guest. I liked their menu a lot as they have a diverse offering. Our guests complimented the pumpkin soup and the angus beef. The quality of their food is good based on reviews and they did not disappoint.

My only possible complaint is that they take a while to respond to emails or texts as they have too many bookings. My husband also told me that when he asked the person handling the setup to use the wooden chairs we rented, he was a bit grumpy about it as they already setup their white plastic chairs.

The waiters also seem okay, can't really say anything as I didn't witness any exceptional service and overall the food quality is all that made up for whatever they lacked.

Chairs (Wooden Picnic) : For Rent, Php 70.00 each
09771529351 / 09432966098
4.5/5
The chairs look better than I expected. My only comment is that they could include the setting up of chairs in their service. Only the rental and delivery is included in their offer.

Costumes: Red's Costume Shop, Php 8,000.00 set
https://www.facebook.com/reds.com.ph/
5/5
Super affordable and their service is also commendable. They gave us a bargain for my medieval theme! 3 children's vest, 1 child's medieval dress, 1 leather coat for my husband, 1 medieval dress for me, 1 set Keiko costume from Yu Yu Hakusho, 1 set Yusuke costumer also from YYH, 1 stuffed toy of Pu also from YYH. The outcome was good. You can contact them via FB messenger.

Crew Meal: D'Packed Meal, Php 159.00 each
https://www.facebook.com/dpackedmeal/
4.5/5
They were also easy to talk to and delivered on time. I can't say much about the food as I didn't get to see it nor eat it. The price was okay compared to others I've checked. I guess it's all expensive when it comes to weddings!

DJ: Jokko Jimenez, Php 2,500.00 per hour
09175680020
https://www.facebook.com/DJJokkoJimenez/
4.7/5
Had a lot of fun dancing to his music selections. He was a bit late which got my husband stressed but he made up for it with his performance. He also didn't charge the excess 1 hour from us, as we originally planned only a 2-hour booking. He was also easy to communicate with according to my husband.

Flowers and Venue Styling: Joel Faller, Php 40, 500.00 (Discounted at 10% off)
09260921324 / 09568373258
https://www.facebook.com/thefloralartist.signatureflowers
4.8/5
Just wow! I was amazed when I saw our garden ceremony setup! He really impressed me!
The price was also the cheapest compared to all the others I've checked! Joel was easy to talk to. He replies a lot, even when he was truly stressed that day as he had 2 other bookings! He also made our flowers. They were unique, I should say. I think he only forgot about the backdrop for our photobooth as he mentioned to me during our meeting that its included, but I didn't really mind.

Gown: Ferdie Sayo, Php 15,000.00
https://www.facebook.com/Ferdie-SAYO-Couture-291456154202785/
5/5
Another one that surprised me was this guy! I wasn't expecting much about my gown as I didn't spend a lot on it. My dad and brother even commented that I might look like a rag if I don't allot enough budget on it. Then I asked my brother to pick my gown up for me when it was ready and I didn't get to see my gown immediately. I only saw the pictures and thought I didn't like it, so I asked a nearby tailor to make me a cheaper medieval gown (worth Php 5,000.00) as a backup, which I didn't get to wear because by the time I tried the gown Ferdie made, I loved it! It looked good on me and got exactly what I wanted!

Hair and Make-Up Artist: Neil Russel Fuller Amon, Php 8,000.00
09171322829
https://www.facebook.com/neil.amon.5
4.2/5
The package includes an airbrush make up for me and a touch up for my groom. I also got him to do my entourage's hair and make up for Php 1,000.00 each. The price was reasonable and they arrived on time. Some liked his make up but mine was just okay. I also got quite stressed and missed out on pictorial with the entourage all made up because preparation took so long, partly my fault - I guess. I told him only 3 would get their preps done by his team, but ended up with 7 girls asking to be prepped by them. He had a companion who only blow dried the hair and curled it with rollers. He was the only one doing the hair and make up on all 8 of us. Not sure if he was slow or my expectations were just high because of Jayjay Solano, who can do it in 5-10 mins.

Invitations: Grillz Printing, Free
https://www.facebook.com/grillzprinting/
4.5/5
I had my medieval style invitations printed by my sister and got it at no charge. I only bought the wax seals.

Lights and Sounds: Artuz, Php 23,000.00 (with a dance platform at Php 7,000.00)
09207349871 / 046-861-7752 / 09177123324
5/5
Easy to talk to and sound quality was good.

On-the-day Coordinator: Red Letter Day Events, Php 7,500.00
09088199695
https://www.facebook.com/RedLetterDayEvents/
4.3/5
Three of them came to assist on our wedding. I am satisfied with their service. There were some lapses when it came to coordination but it was partly my fault. The only comment I got is that the timeline provided to us was not good. Pictorial of the entourage should come first before the bride and groom's, according to our photographer. The price was also very cheap compared to the others I've checked.

Photo and Video Coverage: FilmLab Studio, Php 50,000.00
09176825546
https://www.facebook.com/FilmLabStudioPH/
4.7/5
We availed of the service without SDE. They also came on time. I liked the output of our prenup pictorial and friends also complimented them. They were easy to talk to and took good pictures.

Photobooth: Stat Photobooth, Php 4,500.00 for 3 hours
https://www.facebook.com/statphotobooth/
1/5
I was so disappointed with this supplier! I remember clearly making changes months before the wedding that we will make our booking for 4 hours and for a magnetic photo strip. During the event, they told me they were only booked for 3 hours and only provided a normal photo strip! When I asked them to complete the 1 hour remaining, they said they need to leave due to another booking. What the hell guys?! What happened to your confirmation of the changes?!

Their props were old and few. The quality of the printed images were not good. I really regret having booked this supplier! Ugh.

Solemnizing Officer: Emmanuel Rey P. Moreno, Php 8,500.00
09369433811 / 09338598454
https://www.facebook.com/emmanuel.r.moreno.3
5/5
I only found this solemnizing officer on OLX.PH and was quite worried he might be fake, but I checked his FB and he looked legit. My friends were also worried about his authenticity but when a friend checked, he has a valid license. Haha! He was easy to communicate with via FB and SMS. I was also satisfied with the ceremony, the length was short enough and he delivered enough talk. He was quite funny too!

Suit: (To be updated)
5/5
I liked how my husband looked during the wedding. It was a dark brown-colored suit. In the pictures, he even seemed more blooming than me! Argh! Heychu!

Tent: Tent King, Php 24, 300.00
09263847062
5/5
A tent is a tent. Can't say much really.

Venue: Clearwater House, Php 95, 000.00
09176832372 / 046-483-2093
5/5
I loved our venue. During the booking, I didn't like it as much. But after getting styled, it was perfect!
I was actually bothered by how expensive this space was since we had to provide almost everything - it was just a lot, with a small lobby for toilets, and has a nice view of the Taal Volcano. But during the wedding, it was exactly what I wanted. A same venue for the ceremony and reception, an intimate wedding with a cool weather and a beautiful scenery. I'm really thankful that it didn't rain.

The free lodging at the Cliffhouse Inn was also much appreciated, their service was superb! The room was grand and the breakfast was sumptuous!

Oh and I also didn't hear any negative feedback whether it was difficult to park because they provide enough spaces for it.

Wedding Rings: Ty Po Huat, Php 22,000.00 pair
https://www.facebook.com/typohuatgoldsmith/
3.5/5
Another thing I cheap-skated on was our wedding rings! And we were quite disappointed at how our rings came out. They were too shiny and big for our fingers! We couldn't get the design we want due to carving constraints. Anyway, Ty Po Huat is recommended only if you want plain rings without any customization. Their 14K gold rings can be as cheap as Php 14,000.00 a pair.

In any case, our rings are an acquired taste. I don't dislike it anymore. It's okay. Maybe my husband and I will get another one, hopefully, a medieval style ring next time!

And that's it!
Just comment below, if you have any questions, and I'd be glad to help. :)

Planning your Medieval Wedding

So here's a list of things to consider for your medieval wedding:
A separate post will be made for each of these!

1. Venue
Select whether to make it indoor or outdoor. For me, my wedding will be in a garden.
Another post will be created for our venue hunt in Tagaytay!

2. Design Concept
From my research, most of medieval colors are earthly. So choose colors brown, emerald green, dark red, and yellow gold. Wood, candles, and metals are also part of the options.

3. Attire
If you've seen Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, you may already be familiar with what you're supposed to wear.

4. Food
Not so much option for this one, here in the Philippines. We will settle with what our chosen caterer will offer. We will just make it up with the design of our venue and wedding attire.

5. Hair and Make Up
For the hair, I've seen a lot of braided styles and flower accessories. Make up should look natural and not too bold.

6. Miscellaneous
  • Wordings and styles for the invites should sound and look medieval. I'll be posting some ideas I've seen online.
  • Labels and seating arrangements can be made medieval sounding.
  • Wedding favors ideas from the medieval period are also available
  • Some traditions from medieval weddings can also be employed during the wedding

So I will post all the details soon. Hopefully, in a few days.

Our Medieval Garden Wedding: Planning from Scratch!

So I created this blog to document our budget medieval garden wedding plans! Let's hope it turns out well! Godspeed! <3
